Famous for its vibrant Pattachitra paintings, Odisha also has mural paintings in the caves of Khandagiri and Udayagiri. Over time, medieval mural traditions underwent a remarkable transformation into the ritual wall paintings of the unique Oshakothi style. From savouring the engraved palm leaf manuscripts to journeying through the Jatri Pattis of Puri, our traditional paintings allow the visitor to trace the evolution of this art form. Bright beautiful colours are splashed over artefacts of different sizes, textures and media such as wooden toys, dowry boxes, theatre masks, decorated coconuts and giant horses.
